Improve Your Posture Naturally

There are many ways to improve posture, but many people misunderstand the concept. It simply has not gotten the exposure it needs to make it household knowledge. There are many ways of helping you achieve that, from posture support with magnets to what is helpfully known as a posture bra, but before you look into those, you must know the concepts and tenets behind fantastic posture.

A lot of people think that it is about looking good – and well, part of it is. With better posture, you look better. Confidence simply oozes out of people with great posture and confidence is one of the many ways to improve your look. Some people even look ten, fifteen pounds lighter when they straighten up and make sure that they’re in the right posture. We’ve all probably heard our mothers try to admonish us into standing straight and tall.

It’s actually more health related nowadays, although the appearance of being more fit and more confident are definitely perks most people wouldn’t mind having. The basics are to simply stand straight – stand up and position yourself so you’re sideways to a mirror. When you’re holding your head up and facing the world like a tough guy or gal who’s mentally challenging the world to ‘bring it’, there should be an imaginary line that goes down, starting from your ears, through your shoulders, shooting straight down to your ankles.

If they’re aligned, then good job – you’ve actually got decent posture. If not, you can go down the line to figure out where you’re going wrong. Maybe your chin isn’t as high as you think it is. Perhaps you’re still rounding out your shoulders just a little. Take care that you don’t pull them too far back – that’s not good posture either. Keep your knees straightened, though not locked. Essentially, keep your knees ready to move.

Use your body the way it was intended to be used – stay on the balls of your feet. It goes a long way towards good posture as that is how your body was meant to stay balanced. Posture comes into play when you’re sleeping and when you’re sitting down as well. When you’re sitting down, you need to make sure that your lower back is in contact with the back of the chair. For people who didn’t know, doing that is a great way to improve posture while sitting down. Use the back of your chair – don’t lean over your keyboard or desk.

Your posture while sleeping is greatly aided by your mattress and your pillow. Firmer mattresses are much better for your back than really soft ones and pillows should help align your body, not mess it up. Of course, these tips to improve posture may be almost impossible for people with real back problems – which is why people have created things like the posture bar and posture support with magnets

Posture support with magnets works by placing powerful magnets on specific parts of your back. These are coupled with braces in order to alleviate back pain and of course, improve posture. Bad posture, after all, contributes wildly to back pain and various ailments. This in turn, helps out your spine and eases blood flow, which is just fantastic news for your heart.

A posture bra, as the name suggests, are mostly for women who need a little back support. Perhaps they just grew up with terrible posture, or perhaps they’re the kind of women blessed immensely by nature. In any event, they need just a little push in the right direction to help them out. It is a bra designed to both hold up those orbs that fascinate so many men around the world and support the women that carry them.

Of course, it is not designed to do all the work on its own – it is just a bra after all, not magic. The women involved need to do the stretches, the exercise and the work to make their backs and their bodies healthier. The posture bra just goes a long way towards helping them out.

It’s a noble purpose, to improve posture, but it is by no means an easy one. Like a sport, at the start you have to be aware of every single move you’re making. Perhaps while standing still, you have amazing posture but once you walk it all goes to nothing. Perhaps you only have it while again, standing and when you sit down you immediately melt into a sack of potatoes sitting on a chair.

There are many guides and many ways to improve posture out there on the internet, which makes the problem not one of ignorance, but of application. It’s a tough road, as anything physical is, but one that your body, your energy levels and your health will thank you for.
